After a goal is set, it is important to monitor, review, and adjust that goal to reach its full potential. Failing to monitor a goal may result in failing to accomplish the goal. As I have been working towards my GAME plan, I am forced to admit I am not planning technology activities to the extent I originally intended. I am finding Webquests and resources that will be what I need for my students as we begin studying the Industrial Revolution and Immigration. I need to prepare my students to complete the Webquests. I would love any suggestions on how to introduce Webquests to my students.
I have been reminded that students will need some exploration time in order to stay focused on content. I need to plan or have additional content tasks available in order to keep ALL students engaged. When I feel the urge to complain about the time it takes to plan the extra technology activities, I must remind myself I am teacher for my students, not for what is convenient for me.
Jenelle,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Photo Story 3?. Photo Story 3, is a free program from Microsoft, makes it easy to add music, narration, titles, and special effects to turn your photos and images into movies. Help to promote literacy skills across grade levels and content areas by becoming a digital story teller. It is easy and it is fun. Students need to bring their own digital photos or you can work with sample files that will be provided. The final product can be recorded on a CD on any other electronic device. My daughter worked in a project about the crusades and Marco Polo, was fun, also try http://www.scratch.mit.edu you’ll be surprise with students creativity. Good Luck.
Jenelle,
ReplyDeleteThe best advice I can give you is take little steps. Like yourself, I am struggle with the complete understanding of Webquests. I love the idea about them and how they are used in the classroom but I find it difficult to set up myself. I am sure with a little search via the Internet you can find a podcast or video that explains step by step instructions. Remember, this is all a learning process and the best thing you can do is take it step by step and modify as you go. You may also try and see what the students already know and have them try to teach you. You can also try and send them out on a search themselves because in the end it will be a great learning tool for them.
Good Luck!
